QHA works toward this goal through a number of contracts, partnerships, and initiatives. The goal of QHA is to improve the quality of care for the people of North Dakota by successfully balancing the needs of providers, consumers, stakeholders, and payers. QHA is governed and staffed by a team of physicians, nurses, analysts, statisticians, IT specialists, and other allied healthcare professionals. QHA uses data-driven, result-oriented processes and tools to improve healthcare quality and patient safety. QHA areas of expertise include Quality improvement methodologies, lean process improvement, Health Information Technology consultation, Data analytics, and coding and quality and utilization review QHA serves as the North Dakota subcontractor to the Great Plains Quality Innovation Network, the CMS Medicare Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) for the region encompassing North Dakota and South Dakota. In this role QHA facilitates learning and action networks, convening communities, and teaching and providing technical assistance to healthcare providers and consumers to improve healthcare, encourage healthy communities, and lower costs. QHA also holds a contract with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to work with North Dakota’s primary care clinics to increase colorectal cancer (CRC) screening rates in rural, frontier and tribal communities thereby reducing the incidence and late-state diagnosis of CRC.
