Arts in Medicine Fellowship

Arts in Medicine Fellows as part of our initiatives of diversity and multi-disciplinary, are made up of: a team of Arts and Medical Students, Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Artists, Educators, Photographers, Poets, Dancers, Musicians, Storytellers, Dramatists, Occupational Therapists, Pharmacists, Dentists, Mental Health Practitioners, Administrators and Researchers. Currently, our fellows are from these States in Nigeria: Lagos, Oyo, Ogun State, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Through the support of the United States mission in Nigeria, Arts in Medicine Fellowship was launched in February, 2018, with the aim of integrating arts into health care. Ever since then, thousands of persons including patients, caregivers, healthcare providers and community members have benefited greatly from the healing power of arts in our program. Arts in Medicine Fellowship currently has the largest network of arts in health practitioners in Africa. Over the years, we have enjoyed the incredible partnership and support of the Center for Arts in Medicine, University of Florida; US Department of States; Tides Foundation, San Francisco; Nigerian Medical Association, Sickle Cell Foundation, Nigeria, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH; Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Lagos, Nigeria, Association of Resident Doctors, Lagos University Teaching Hospital; Nursing and Midwives Association of Nigeria; Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture; Society of Nigerian Artists, and GABI Williams Alzheimer’s Foundation, Lagos State, Nigeria. Beyond the shores of the continent of Africa, Arts in Medicine Fellows have participated in international arts in health program, both in the United States and United Kingdom, respectively. Our Fellows have been locally and internationally recognized for their pioneering efforts and commitment to excellence in their professional fields of endeavor.
