Igara owns and operates 2 tea processing factories; Igara Tea Factory and Buhweju Tea Factory. The 2 are 100% owned by close to 7,000 smallholder tea farmers. Igara contributes about 10% of Uganda's tea production from 28 tea factories. Igara is the largest smallholder tea factory Company in the Country. Buhweju tea factory, which was constructed in 2010, is the only extra smallholder owned tea factory constructed in Uganda since 1969. Despite challenges faced, Igara is Uganda's role model smallholder tea factory.
