In late 2015, Oscar Perez founded Tio Pelon's Salsita out of his 100SF apartment kitchen in San Antonio, Texas. The idea of 'canning' came to mind due to an abundance of homegrown veggies and after some research he decided to give it a try. Eventually, he landed on grandma Emma's secret red salsa recipe, a staple in the family's refrigerator. He decided to put it in a jar and sell it to Facebook friends and family. Since 2017, Tio Pelon's Salsita has grown to be in over 100 stores and has made a great web presence. In 2018, Tio Pelon's Salsita made it to HEB Quest for Texas Best, ranking in the Top 25 out of 700 companies statewide. In 2019, Tio Pelon's Salsita incorporated welcoming 2 new business partners. As our company grows, we want to have a positive impact in the world around us. We believe that as a business in the consumer packaged goods industry, it is our responsibility to create food products that are healthy, delicious, and reduce waste. By having reusable materials such as glass for our packaging, we are taking a step forward towards waste reduction. Our vision at Tio Pelon's Salsita is to be a zero-waste brand. In order to bring our customers the best of the best, we have to be forward thinking. Not only ensuring delicious products, but also being mindful in our manufacturing practices.
