The Winter League was established in Antalya, Turkey to organise football matches between professional teams at their winter training camps In the first year 2015, seven teams from seven countries participated with the with Sturm Graz from Austria being crowned Champions In the second year, the number grew to twelve teams from eleven countries, with NK Maribor from Slovenia taking the title. Since then and apart from during Covid the numbers have grown each year, as have the facilities including a full broadcast of each match being streamed to satisfy the demands of supporters. Following the success of the Winter League and with the so many people from within the game coming to Belek the first Winter League (WL) Convention was held in January 2022. The programme was held over 3 days with speakers arriving from around the world to share their expertise and insights into all parts of the game. This included Scouting, Sports Medicine, Sports Science, The Media and Women’s Football. All the forums were broadcast over YouTube reaching out to a huge audience who were unable to travel. The first WL Convention was sponsored by AntalyaSpor who have already agreed to sponsor the next one in 2023 and already many experts from within the game have expressed interest in attending.
