Nordic e-Infrastructure Collaboration (NeIC)
www.neic.noNeIC is a joint initiative between the Nordic countries and Estonia. We are hosted by NordForsk, which provides for and facilitates Nordic cooperation on research and research infrastructure across the Nordic region. NordForsk appoints the NeIC Board based on nominations by the national e-infrastructure provider organisations. These strategic partner organisations are CSC - IT Center for Science (Finland), SNIC (Sweden), UNINETT Sigma2 (Norway), DeiC (Denmark), RHNet (Iceland) and ETAIS (Estonia). Our goal is to be a role model for cross-border distributed and sustainable e-infrastructure collaborations not only in the Nordic region but globally. By collaborating across disciplines and national borders, we aim to facilitate the sharing of resources and knowledge and ultimately help researches towards solutions that benefit the entire Nordic region. Our work has four strategic objectives: Beneficial collaborations are the principal way that NeIC brings together the needs, interests and resources to create e-infrastructure to support research excellence in the Nordic region. Nordic Influence is the effect that NeIC has in improving and advancing e-infrastructure for researchers and for society. Motivated People are essential in the collaborations and to bring the results into the research domains and society. Effective processes bind NeIC into an organization that is able to realize the benefits and influences that come from the collaborations. Our activities center on digital infrastructure for Nordic research excellence. They contribute to a green, competitive and socially sustainable Nordic region on research domains such as high-energy physics, health, software development, digital humanities, climate and the environment, and authorization & authentication infrastructure (AAI). New activities are initiated through annual NeIC Open calls.
