The Alberta Institute of Agrologists (AIA) is one of many professional regulatory bodies within Alberta. Professional regulatory bodies are occupational groups that have entered into an agreement with the Alberta government to formally regulate the activities of its members within their respective professions. Examples of professional regulatory groups in Alberta include the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists; College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta; Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta; Alberta College of Occupational Therapists; Law Society of Alberta; College of Alberta Professional Foresters; to name a few. Agrology is a growing profession that is at the forefront of many critical issues such as food production and food safety as well as bioresource health and environmental quality, all of which are of great interest to Alberta’s public. Members of AIA work diligently to address these issues in an objective, competent and ethical manner. The dynamic nature of the profession requires that members commit to life-long learning through continued professional development. The AIA regulates the profession of Agrology and strives to assure the public of continued professional competence in Alberta. The AIA is empowered under the Agrology Profession Act and Regulations of Alberta. Over 2500 Agrologists are registered with AIA. The institute regulates the practice of Professional Agrologists (P.Ag.), Agrologists in Training (A.I.T), Registered Technologists in Agrology (R.T.(Ag)), and Agrology Technologists in Training (A.T.T). Our mission: The public interest is protected and served in matters related to agrology.
