Lakeland Credit Union celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2020! From humble beginnings, we have grown to be a co-operative that serves close to 11,000 members in Bonnyville, Cold Lake, and surrounding communities. Our credit union started with just ten people who wanted change and more value in their financial institution. Forming the St. Louis Savings and Credit Union on May 7, 1940, these forward thinkers took the first steps in building the credit union we admire today. Credit unions are about community enrichment, profit sharing, and putting people before profits. We have a rich legacy of profit-sharing and investing in our local communities and businesses. In the last 5 years alone, Lakeland Credit Union has returned over $9.2 million to our members in patronage and dividends, over $461 thousand reinvested in donations and sponsorships, $133 thousand in service charge rebates for non-profit organizations, and $43 thousand in scholarships! We have delivered 133 financial literacy sessions and over 13,118 in staff volunteer hours.
