This highly relational and innovative model of holistic defense is performed by an interdisciplinary team of attorneys, case managers, outreach workers, restorative justice practitioners, and wrap around social supports working seamlessly together to meet the needs of minors and emerging adults in contact with the criminal justice system at every stage: diversion, court advocacy, and reintegration. This integrated team completes legal-social assessments that make for more competent and zealous legal representation as well as improve youth outcomes in school and employment by identifying service interventions needed in mental health, workforce development, mentoring, education, faith and spirituality, family support, and housing. By implementing this violence prevention and public health model of restorative justice, LCLC is leading the transformation of the traditional criminal justice system and creating best practices in community-based holistic interventions that are more impactful, cost significantly less, and provide clear pathways toward meaningful advances in public safety.
