UCL German Society
www.germansociety.co.ukThe UCLU German Society was established in 2004 and has since grown into one of the largest and most active societies at UCL. Our 250+ members are students from German-speaking countries, members of the Department of German at UCL, and people from all walks of life with a great interest in the German language and culture. We offer a wide range of both social and academic events for our members. In the 2013-2014 academic year, the Society was awarded “Society of the Year” at UCL. Aside from museum and concert visits, we organise a number of speaker events with politicians, economists, journalists or other experts in their fields. In Spring 2017, we will host our fourth annual German Summit. Throughout the year, we hold fortnightly Stammtische and other social events, in conjunction with other European societies at UCL. We also hold gatherings and “exchanges” with the German societies at King’s College London, Cambridge, Oxford, London School of Economics and Political Science, and Imperial College London. Highlights of the social calendar include the Oktoberfest and the annual Christmas ball. Additionally, we offer free weekly 90-minute lessons taught by native or near-native speakers at six different levels* for those interested in learning German. Through our work with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), we also offer students help with writing German job applications, CVs and cover letters. info@germansociety.co.uk
