UNM Center for High Technology Materials
chtm.unm.eduThe University of New Mexico's (UNM) Center for High Technology Materials (CHTM) is an internationally recognized center of excellence in photonics and microelectronics with a global reputation for inventing disruptive nanoscale technologies. It is a highly advanced interdisciplinary science and engineering research facility with capabilities matched by few universities in the United States. The Center offers its scientists, engineers and students end-to-end integration capabilities from design and modeling to materials and prototype manufacture. Processes are supported from theory and physics, design and simulation, crystal growth and characterization, to device fabrication and system integration. CHTM provides a collaborative learning environment and a superb educational opportunity for in-depth research for the students of our academic partners at UNM: the Optical Science and Engineering Program and the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry, and Chemical and Nuclear Engineering. The 60,000 sq. ft. main building features a 3500 sq. ft. Class 1000 Cleanroom with a 300 sq. ft. Class 100 bay, and combines fabrication, manufacturing and characterization laboratories with offices and classrooms with remote simulcast capability. CHTM provides its partners at UNM, the Air Force Research Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory and in private industry with outstanding scientific and technical expertise and support. CHTM strengthens the university’s flow of technology to the marketplace, promoting economic development for New Mexico and beyond.
