Global Fresh Trading was established in 2009 in order to expand Palmar's presence in the Western European banana market. However, our story begins in 1996 when the first vessel of Pretty Liza bananas left the shores of Guayaquil for St. Petersburg under the management of current CEO Grigory Nikolaev and Palmar's founder Don Euclides Palacios. Today the Palacios family and Mr. Nikolaev are proud to have grown Palmar into one of Ecuador’s premiere banana producers. Through Global Fresh Trading, the group exports a weekly volume of 400,000 boxes of bananas, 10-15 containers of pineapples and a variety of other fruit to all corners of Eastern and Western Europe and the Mediterranean. Global Fresh Trading is currently one of the principal suppliers of bananas in Russia and Germany with an annual turnover above €160M and yearly volume reaching 20 million boxes of conventional bananas. The group owns 2,000 hectares of GlobalG.A.P. and Rainforest Alliance certified production in El Oro province, one of the best banana-growing regions in the world. Global Fresh Trading also offers Fair for Life and Fairtrade certified organic bananas. These production capabilities, combined with proprietary packing and plastics facilities and our access to a well-established network of shipping routes, make us ideally positioned to accommodate every client's need.
