***The position and scope of work of the Center and its relationship with various stakeholders and institutions within the educational system are determined by laws and other legal acts or regulations, namely the Law on the National Center for External Evaluation of Education and laws governing preschool, primary and secondary education. ***By the Law on the National Center for External Evaluation of Education, the Center was established as a public institution that conducts external evaluation in the educational system of the Republic of Croatia and examinations based on national standards. This law and the Statute of the National Center for External Evaluation of Education adopted in 2006 define in more detail the activities of the Center in the field of external evaluation of student achievement (development, organization, implementation, and analysis of national and state matura exams and international research, task bank creation). ) ***The activity of the Center: *conducts tests based on which national standards of students' educational achievements are assessed (state matura exams, national exams, and other external evaluation exams) *conducts international research in education (PISA, TIMSS, TALIS, ICCS, etc.) *creates a task bank analyzes, statistically processes, and publishes the results of conducted exams *prepares and publishes exam catalogs and manuals for exam preparation and implementation based on evaluation analyzes, makes proposals to the Ministry of Science and Education for permanent improvement of the quality of education *prepares models for external evaluation of educational institutions, licensing and certification of vocational qualifications *organizes seminars for external associates (authors of exam tasks, assessors, subject committees, etc.) on the preparation, preparation, and implementation of exams *The Center is responsible for the overall external evaluation of the pre-tertiary education system in the Republic of Croatia
