Hyperloop Massachusetts is one of the 35 chosen semifinalists of the 2,600 proposals for the Hyperloop One Global Challenge. Our motto is "Boston's Revitalization. Somerset's Reincarnation. A vision to bring Hyperloop to the U.S. East Coast and beyond." We are working with The Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Rhode Island to bring the transportation technology not only to the state of Massachusetts, but also eventually to the entire East Coast. Our plan is simple, Boston’s Revitalization and Somerset’s Reincarnation. We chose Somerset, Massachusetts because of its location in Southeast Massachusetts and how that region was an economic leader in the country at one point. Somerset was leading in the coal industry, Fall River was a leading producer of textiles, and New Bedford was viewed as the Whaling capital of the world. The growth of these places has stagnated and we want to bring them back, we want to reincarnate these places and give them new life. We chose Boston because as other aspects of Boston are excelling, our transportation system lags behind many other cities in the United States and around the world. Hyperloop would not be a replacement, but a supplement to Boston’s network. If we can prove our concept and build it here, then we will be able to replicate and lead the path down the coast. Boston is a center for innovation and change, and it is time to change what the word transportation means and what our concept of time is. Hyperloop is the future, and we can either pave the path for establishing Hyperloop in the United States or watch someone else do it and follow in their footsteps years later. Boston has always been at the forefront of forward progression and it is now time for Boston and Massachusetts as a whole to once again innovate, inspire, and change.
