The Center for Research on Ending Violence, formerly VAWC, strives to eliminate physical, sexual, and other forms of violence against women and children and the power imbalances that permit them. We accomplish our mission through a collaborative approach that focuses on multidisciplinary research, education, & community engagement. https://socialwork.rutgers.edu/centers/revcenter Areas of Focus Research: Community-based, collaborative research on issues related to violence against women and children including program evaluation and evidence-based practice at the individual, family, organizational, community and policy levels. Professional Training & Certification: Instructor-led and interactive, web-based continuing education of professionals, resulting in enhanced personal and job competencies. Certificate programs for continuing education of professionals that can be replicated nationally or internationally. M.S.W. Education: Offering the only advanced degree in Social Work specializing in violence against women and children. Preparing future executives and advocates working in domestic violence, sexual assault, or child welfare organizations. Community Partnerships: A venue for collaboration, dialogue, and problem-solving among survivors of violence, and academic, government, corporate and nonprofit groups. Major Grants & Awards: Received $300,000 in funding from Verizon Wireless for various aspects of the center's work. Received close to $2 million for multiple three-year grants. (2010) Received the Celebrating Solutions Award form the Mary Byron Foundation. (2014) Piloted the OVW campus climate survey for the White House Task Force to Protect Students Against Sexual Assault. (2014) Received a $5 million multi-year Research Consortium focusing on Violence Against Women. (2016) Received $2 million Victims of Crime Act Grant to expand programming and resources throughout all Rutgers Campuses. (2017)
