Claan is an art and design innovation studio founded in 2008 by an Austrian media artist and a Portuguese designer and visual artist. Claan is a team of creatives engaged in artistic and technological research and experimentation. Their work merges science, design, art and technology through experiential and creative practices and fosters the power of neuroesthetics, continuously learning and applying new methodologies in a contemporary and cutting edge environment. The team embraces complex challenges with attitude, knowledge, know-how and skills creating work spanning the fields of art, design, digital products and everyday spaces. Claan was founded in Porto in the summer of 2008 and received the best presentation award at the Tech Media Europe (TME) in 2010. As a result Claan was a finalist at the European Venture Summit (EVS) in Düsseldorf in 2011 and was invited to establish its headquarter at the Creative Industries Center of the Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto. The company was granted 40K USD to participate at the International Acceleration Program Startup Chile and was selected as a finalist at the Red Innova Startup Competition in São Paulo in Brazil. Claan was granted a year of individual executive business coaching sessions from the Porto Business School by Prof. Paulo Sobral, and has gained international recognition by receiving awards from institutions and magazines alike. Their work has been published in books and magazines alike and was considered ‘One of the most inspiring works from the world’s leading creatives’ by Computer Arts Magazine UK.
