The Michael Lloyd Pye Scholarship Foundation was established in 2004 in honor of his strong belief in education and his tremendous will to help students. Mr. Pye began his dedicated career as a math instructor with the Detroit Public School System. He stressed that students learn the meaning of numbers. He inspired students to use their creative abilities to solve mathematical problems. Mr. Pye continued his educational pursuits by obtaining his Masters Degree in Secondary Elementary and Specialist Degree in Administration. He had high expectations for all his students as well as himself. The Michael Pye Scholarship was established to encourage college students to pursue their educational dreams and to achieve educational success in the area of mathematics or education. The Michael Lloyd Pye Scholarship Foundation wishes to continue Mr. Pye’s ideology, steadfastness, fondness for education, and his love of mathematics, by making this scholarship available.
