Interfaith Power & Light (DC.MD.NoVA)
www.ipldmv.orgInterfaith Power & Light (DC. MD. NoVA) works with hundreds of congregations of all faiths across Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia to save energy, go green, and respond to climate change. We are one of 40 Interfaith Power & Light (IPL) state affiliates across the country. IPL helps congregations educate, incorporating environmental concerns into worship, teaching, and preaching. IPL helps congregations go green, by supporting them in saving energy, re-bidding their electricity contracts, purchasing clean power, and shifting other aspects of their institutional purchasing and practices to minimize environmental impact. IPL helps congregations speak out as part of local and national advocacy efforts to protect Creation. We are part of a network of local Interfaith Power & Light groups across the country. Together, we are building a national religious response to the climate crisis. Our regional Interfaith Power & Light is a project of the InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington. Since 1978, IFC has been bringing together the diverse religious communities in the DC area to promote dialogue, understanding, and a sense of community. Eleven faith communities, from Baha’i to Zoroastrian, collaborate through IFC to deepen understanding and to build a just community in metropolitan Washington.
