(QAST) is a not for profit organisation, dedicated to the promotion and support of Queensland tuckshops and school communities in their endeavours to offer nutritious, hygienic and economically viable food services. QAST provides a professional, responsive and proactive membership organisation and maintains close working links with government, industry and like-minded organisation such as Queensland Health, Education Queensland, P&Cs QLD, Nutrition Australia, and other State canteen bodies. Currently QAST has over 470 members in Queensland. These include: • canteen managers and workers • school community members (parents, teachers, principals, community participation officers, community nutritionists etc.) • health and education organisations • Queensland parents and citizens or friends organisations • food manufacturers and distributors • individuals or groups interested in the health and well-being of school children The Association was incorporated in 1996 and became a Registered Training Organisation in 2009. In 2012 the Association was endorsed as a health promotion charity by the Australian Taxation Office.
