WINTERDAO is an analogue-digital test environment for ideas about digital art property in the local area of Rotterdam. Artists, art organizations and art lovers contribute to the development, application and prototyping of digitizing existing artworks, presenting digital artworks and facilitating the construction of collections/collections of digital artworks. With this test environment, WINTERDAO wants to increase the accessibility of digital art production, presentation and sales and connect Rotterdam makers, audiences and institutions. For audiences/collectors: there is great public potential for digital art: Instagram, TikTok and memes are forms of image production and presentation that reach billions of people every day. WINTERDAO wants to connect audiences at the local level with makers of these images - artists, photographers and creative. For artists: digital art production and presentation offers unprecedented possibilities. It is relatively easy to generate visibility for the work, the distribution possibilities seem unlimited and with the advent of decentralized database there are (commercial) opportunities to arrange ownership of work. The knowledge about this is still limited, and at the local level mainly individually developed. For art organizations: with the advent of digital visual culture, the role of the art institute as a mediator between artwork and the public is changing. The work reaches the public digitally without intervention. At the same time, there is the possibility to present existing analogue works of art to the public in this way. Finally, museums have a role to play in the construction and management of collections, with different requirements for digital collections than for analogue ones.
