To do so, we provide a platform for medical students to engage with topics that medical school doesn't cover, but that are foundational knowledge for future leaders and shapers of healthcare. Based at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, PEL is student-centered, student-led, and student-driven. We work with nationally recognized leaders in medicine, policy, and business to learn about how the system works, how we can fit into it, and how we can change it. Since its inception in 2013, PEL has grown rapidly with hundreds of medical students having now completed the annual program. The American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) has recognized PEL as one of only five Transformative Student Initiated Innovations 2016.
