By 2003 Handal secured API 2C crane manufacturing Licenses from The American Petroleum Institute (API), and was listed on Bursa Kuala Lumpur Securities in 2009. In 2018 Borneo Seaoffshore Sdn Bhd emerged as a substantial shareholder in Handal. This led to a change in the management and, subsequently, a shift in the company’s identity as an Integrated Energy Group — today known as Handal Energy Berhad. Handal's main business divisions are Cranes, Pipelines, Gas Turbine Maintenance, Well Services with an expansion into Non Hydrocarbon energy projects.
