Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission is a faith-based charitable organization established by Ramabai Dongre-Medhavi (Pandita Pamabai), a champion for women’s emancipation in India and a pioneer in education. Founded as a home for widows in the 1800s, Mukti Mission has since then opened its doors to every needy soul that graced it. Today, the Mukti family extends across generations, countries, and disciplines. Sheltering new-borns to the elderly, PRMM’s vision is to educate and empower young girls and women from unprivileged backgrounds. PRMM’s departments include a nursery; homes for the children, elderly, and single mothers; a 30-bedded hospital and fully functional dental clinic; Marathi and English medium schools; and a vocational training center for girls with special needs. The Mukti Mission campus also provides a Government recognized Diploma in Fashion Designing course and also supports small-scale enterprises by offering micro-loans.
