Lucha Latina Inc.
www.luchalatina.comThe Lucha Latina is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 2015 with the sole purpose to empower young Latinas across the nation, from all walks of life and regardless of socio-economic backgrounds to help achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals. According to The American Association of University Women, “Hispanic girls have a higher school dropout rate than other racial or ethnic groups.” Many believe that the reason for this is a lack of support from home or a lack of experience in the home with higher education. Unfortunately, it creates a lack of confidence in young women who feel like their aspirations may be too large to turn into a reality and may also be unaware of all the resources that are available to them at their fingertips. Lucha Latina aims to serve as a resource by providing financial aid, mentorship/guidance, networking opportunities, and potential career placements. The Scholarship portion aspires to become a launching point for—a new generation of minority women –Latinas in their senior year of high school looking to pursue a degree. Much of the success that is attributed with attending a university as a minority has to do with a support system that they often have to leave behind in order to succeed. With its members comprised of recent college graduates and current college-enrolled students, Lucha Latina is fully aware of what it takes to succeed, with methods of support and encouragement beyond the scholarship itself. Whether it is financial assistance or a simple stance of solidarity with the Hispanic/Latino community, we hope you join us in this LUCHA LATINA.
