Everything we do in our daily lives effects the environment, often in a detrimental way. The extent of this impact can be quantified as our ecological footprint. BioR is a non-profit organisation that focuses on offsetting the ecological footprints of its members. As our ecological footprint is a holistic measure of our impact on the environment, a holistic approach is required to offset it. For example, offsetting carbon by planting trees, whilst better than nothing, only addresses one part of our ecological footprint. To offset its members ecological footprints, BioR reconstructs habitats that mimic natural ecosystems with the full complement of plant species. By doing so BioR aims to reconstruct functional ecosystems which have the ability to offset our broader ecological footprint. We currently operate in South Australia and SE Arizona and are looking for partners in California.
