Venture College, under the College of Innovation & Design at Boise State University, provides students and community members with the skills and knowledge to turn their original and innovative ideas into a business venture. We are open to all students from all majors (as well as to members of our community) with a thirst for knowledge. We offer resources for those who want to start their own businesses, or are curious about learning the fundamentals of startups to develop the necessary tools to be successful in their own endeavors. Every successful business begins with a great idea, and our goal at Venture College is to help your idea reach its full potential! At Venture College, we host workshops, panel discussions, pitch practice, and pitch competitions throughout the year. Our workshops are designed to develop and sharpen skills, while our competitions give students a chance to work on pitching their business ideas for a chance to win cash prizes. In the spring, the Venture College hosts the Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge, a two day, state-wide competition open to students from across Idaho, who have a chance to pitch their business idea and win seed funding. In 2019, over 100 students completed applications, with 24 teams advancing to the finals held at Boise State University. Over $100,000 in funding was distributed to the top teams.
