Northern Hardwoods Research Institute Inc.
www.hardwoodsnb.caThe Northern Hardwoods Research Institute is an innovative partnership between the private forest sector, governments and Université de Moncton. Our institute is situated in Edmundston, New Brunswick and was founded in 2012 to conduct applied research in northern hardwoods to provide the forest sector with knowledge that is required to ensure their growth and sustainability. Our institute, as a knowledgehub, is now a key player in research transfer among specialists, decision-makers and all the research community. To archive our mandate, we use a problem-solving approach to deliver actual results. The NHRI’s objectives are to: 1-Develop better knowledge of the hardwood resource in New Brunswick; 2-Develop silviculture methods that encourage the sustainable yield of desired species and products; 3-Create methods and harvesting techniques that improve volume and value for the existing and future hardwood resource; 4-Ensure transfer of knowledge and results to the industry; 5-Influence forest policy based on the results of NHRI research.
