Radio Popolare (RP) was created in 1976, following Supreme Court ruling as non-constitutional the legal monopoly of state-owned RAI (main broadcast media in Italy at the time). RP produces and distributes news, entertaining, music, cultural programming. RP makes just nearly half of its money from free contributions of its own listeners. About 40% of RP's funding comes from advertising. Rp Stock Company is owned by the members of Cooperativa Radio Popolare (employees, journalists, producers, etc) and by more than 12 thousands shareholders.
