Canadian Centre for the Study of Co-operatives
www.usaskstudies.coopThe Centre for the Study of Co-operatives is an interdisciplinary teaching and research centre located on the University of Saskatchewan campus. Established in 1984, the Centre is supported financially by major provincial and national co-operatives and the University of Saskatchewan. The Centre's goal is to provide people with conceptual and informational tools to understand co-operatives and to develop them as solutions to economic and social needs. We are formally affiliated with the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy. The connection strengthens the capacity of both units to develop new course offerings and to provide career opportunities for both academics and co-op practitioners. Our most recent collaborative work has resulted in a new Graduate Certificate in the Social Economy and Co-operatives. We are also closely associated with the Edwards School of Business and the colleges of Arts and Science, Law, and Agriculture and Bioresources. Underpinning our affiliations with these campus units are enduring ties to the co-operative sector, which has supported the Centre since 1984.
