L’histoire du Comité de Paris de la Società Dante Alighieri commence en 1902, quand il fut fondé sous la présidence du Comte Francesco Melzi d’Eril. The Dante Alighieri Society was founded in Italy in 1889, and named after Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) – the author of The Divine Comedy – who is considered the father of the Italian language. Our purpose is to promote the study of the Italian language and culture throughout the world, independently of political ideologies, national or ethnic origins or religious beliefs. We are a free association of people – not just Italians – who share an interest for the Italian language, culture and the spirit of humanism. We operate through numerous international branches such as ours in Berlin (est 1956). We offer a series of events, courses, certifications and access to our library for both members and public.
