Cheka School is a free English and Swahili nursery/pre-primary school for the children of the rural Kiranyi area of Arusha, Tanzania. The school is registered under Cheka Foundation in Tanzania as a non-profit company. All our students come from poor families in the very impoverished area Kiranyi in Sakina, Arusha (where the school is also situated). Our Mission As a small charity, Cheka Foundations’s main priority is to reduce the impact of poverty in the area by providing free Swahili and English pre-primary education and offering business and educational opportunities to the community. Apart from free English/Kiswahili medium nursery & pre-primary education we offer: • Two nutrtious meals a day (in most cases the only meals the children eat during the day) • Schooluniforms, schoolbags, clothes and shoes when needed • Help and support the families of the children – financial support/loans to start small businesses/buy kettle etc (smile/laugh in kiswahili) All the above is financed only with the help of donations and fundraisers and is offered to the children and their families, free of charge. Our vision Purchasing land and building our own Primary School. With our own schoolbuilding Cheka School can become more self-sufficient and sustainable for the children, their families and the community in which we work in.
