Lab 80 film started its activity in 1976 in Bergamo as a distributor of films by authors back then unknown for the national film market. The company has been the first to distribute in Italy films directed by Wenders, Fassbinder, Herzog, Wajda and Has. Since 1999 Lab 80 film has created a production specialized on creative documentary, putting it side by side with the historical distribution activity.
