The American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY) is the only organization in the United States solely dedicated to supporting over 3.4-5.4 million unrecognized and vulnerable children between the ages of 8-18 years who sacrifice their education, health, well-being, and childhood to provide care for family members who are chronically ill, injured, elderly or disabled. AACY works within systems of healthcare, education, government, and communities to raise awareness of the issue, and facilitate solutions on behalf of this population. Headquartered in Palm Beach County, the professional team of the Caregiving Youth Project (CYP) works with students who are caregivers in school, out of school and at home. Through the CYP, caregiving youth learn they are no longer alone, reduce their isolation, manage stress, improve grades, 98.3% graduate from high school, and more than 90% go on to college. The success of the Project has spawned affiliates in locations throughout the country and led to the establishment of the Caregiving Youth Institute. Our Objectives: * To establish an affiliate network serving Caregiving Youth throughout the United States * To work with education systems to find innovative solutions so that caregiving youth can be successful in their academic and personal lives * To partner with pediatric professionals in the early identification of caregiving youth and their families * To replicate supportive and successful program tools * To provide resources for pre-teens, teens, families, and professionals about issues and help for caregiving youth * To create a web-based network of counseling, support and Skills Building for caregiving youth * To educate professionals about caregiving ramifications on student development and achievement * To partner with organizations and existing support networks of family caregivers * To sponsor respite/relief opportunities for caregiving youth GuideStar Profile: https://www.guidestar.org/profile/65-0866677
