Massachusetts Speech-Language Hearing Association (MSHA)
www.mshahearsay.orgThe Massachusetts Speech-Language Hearing Association was established in 1949 to realize the founding philosophy of providing persons in the fields of human communication disorders with the opportunity to establish common standards, to exchange information and ideas, and to act as a strong, unified voice for upgrading the profession within our state. MSHA is a recognized professional association for audiologists and speech-language pathologists by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). We are a volunteer based organization solely funded by our membership and organization sponsored events. MSHA provides members with a resource to find information. We frequently receive emails from members looking for answers to questions, ranging from regulations to dealing with insurance companies to questions on transitioning into the state as a therapist. We help members find the answers to their questions or connecting them with the organizations or individuals they need. Where ASHA monitors and advocates for SLPs and Audiologists at a national/federal level, MSHA focuses on state legislation. We monitor proposed bills that impact SLPs, Audiologists and the consumers we treat. When needed, we provide documentation or give testimony regarding the bills impact on our profession. As an ASHA approved CEU provider, MSHA organizes and registers continuing education opportunities within the state of Massachusetts. Our focus is to provide affordable educational opportunities on current topics and areas of interest to our members.
