Kunskapsskolan was founded in 1999 and currently operates 29 secondary schools for pupils between the ages of 10 and 16, and seven sixth form schools for 16 to 19 year olds, totalling over 11,000 students in Sweden. Kunskapsskolan establishes, operates and develops schools where every student is recognized as a unique individual with the ability, ambition and support to learn and grow beyond what she or he thought was possible. In Kunskapsskolan, the student will be placed in the centre. Personalized education means that the school and the teachers start from and adapt themselves to the student's goals, ambitions and potential - not the opposite. The main task of the school is to impart knowledge. In addition to this, it is the aim of Kunskapsskolan to provide each pupil with additional skills - methods of acquiring and using a variety of knowledge, as well as personal development - to be able to meet a future world of vast flows of information and a rapid rate of change. The fundamental principle behind our method of learning is the conviction that all pupils are different and that they learn in different ways and at different rates, and that it is the school´s task to meet these differences.
