Saipem Taqa AI-Rushaid Fabricators Company Ltd. (STAR) was established in 2007 as a limited liability partnership between Taqa AIRushaid for Marine works co. Ltd. (TAM), and Saipem International BV (60%/40% ownership). STAR began its activities October 2008 with engineering design and construction of offshore platforms for Saudi Aramco at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. This major initiative of fabricating platforms for the offshore oil and gas fields is the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The fabrication yard is conveniently located within a sheltered area of the port with deep water access and a current production capacity of 30,000 tons annually.
