Vincent Dance Theatre
www.vincentdt.comArtistic Director / Choreographer Charlotte Vincent and her brilliant, cross-generational ensemble have been ‘moving people and making them think’ since 1994, distributing productions on stage, on film and online to place the work at the heart of public debate. Recent productions include IN LOCO PARENTIS which shed a light on the extraordinary resilience of care-experienced young people, demanding that their stories be seen and heard. VDT’s ART OF ATTACHMENT, made in collaboration with substance misuse charity Brighton Oasis Project, premiered in October 2018 and is forming part of VDT's new installation project HOME TRUTHS premiering in 2021. Acclaimed by The Observer (UK) as ‘funny, fearless and flintily determined, Vincent is one of the most important feminist artists working in Britain today’, creating ‘astonishingly original’ (New York Times) productions with a ‘crackling intellectual core’ (The Guardian, UK). VDT’s productions make significant claims for gender politics, and increasingly for social change. Productions are formed out of and accompanied by a wide range of PARTICIPATION activity: - Professional Development labs, workshops and residencies - Social Engagement research workshops with community groups - Teaching & Learning workshops for schools, colleges and other education settings - Dialogue & Debate talks, panel discussions and presentations Vincent also mentors a range of mid-career artists, is widely acknowledged for supporting parenting in performing arts and campaigning for gender equality #VDTEverydayAction in all aspects of the company’s work, both on and off the stage. Vincent Dance Theatre is a National Portfolio Organisation, funded by Arts Council England. VDT is based in Brighton, UK, and Associate Company at Brighton Dome.
