The mission of the New Bedford Women's Center is to empower and support positive choices for all and to educate and take action in the community for the prevention of oppression and violence. With over 40 years of experience, The Women's Center is the preeminent organization in the Southcoast region or Massachusetts, offering comprehensive FREE and confidential services to ALL survivors and victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child trauma. The Women’s Center is a 501(c)(3) organization with offices in New Bedford and Fall River, Massachusetts. Comprehensive, “wrap-around” services include a 24 hour emergency hotline, multilingual crisis intervention and counseling in individual and group settings, two secure shelters, a specialized shelter, emergency safe homes, court and medical advocacy, and collaborative assistance with related immigration, employment and housing issues, victim compensation and other support services. The Center is particularly attuned to the special needs of underserved populations in our community, including the low/moderate income populations; the Hispanic, Cape Verdean and Portuguese communities, immigrants and refugees, and non-English speaking victims.
