The European Safety Federation is a non-profit and a non subsidised organisation which groups (the national associations of) manufacturers, importers and distributors of Personal Protective Equipment in Europe. As such, ESF is recognised by the European authorities and stakeholders, as the representative organisation of PPE suppliers. As each of the 511 million EU citizens (be it as employee, as self-employed or in his/her free time) uses PPE to protect him/her against risks for his/her health or safety, the ESF members have an essential role in the protection of the population in Europe and beyond. ESF represents over 600 companies (of which over 70% are SME) supplying all types of PPE to the industry. ESF assists, protects and strengthens its members capabilities at the European level in terms of legislation, implementation of legislation, market surveillance, standardisation, etc. ESF supports the development and the promotion of Health and Safety in the workplace (e.g. as partner of the EU-OSHA campaigns - see also https://www.linkedin.com/company-beta/73952/). This includes creating and supporting awareness of occupational accident prevention and protection at all levels, emphasising the importance of proper selection, use, care and maintenance of PPE.
