I cannot remember singing one children’s song about someone who looked like me. Not one. I created Girl Power Songs to change that reality for little girls of color so that they can sing about real women who look like them that have changed the world. Our kids need a new canon and Girl Power Songs is it! Reflecting children in the songs they sing has the power to change how they see themselves. These songs are more than culturally responsive, they are culturally disruptive.
