The largest enterprise for the production of reuse water in South America and one of the largest in the world, AQUAPOLO is the result of a partnership between GS Inima Industrial and SABESP (Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo). Developed as a solution for climate change impact on water resources, AQUAPOLO provides reuse water for the Capuava Petrochemical Complex and industries in the São Paulo region of ABC. Innovative and sustainable project, pioneer in Brazil, AQUAPOLO has the capacity to produce up to 1,000 liters of reuse water per second, using the most advanced technological processes in the treatment of water and effluents. This volume is equivalent to the sustain a city of 500 thousand inhabitants. For every liter of water produced on its premises, another liter of drinking water is saved. Highly automated, AQUAPOLO uses the treated sewage by Sabesp's ABC Waste Water Treatment Plant (ABC WWTP) as its main input. The parameters and quality of the water that must be reached at the end of the entire process were determined in conjunction with the customer, who uses it in several industrial processes such as cooling towers and boilers. To distribute the produced water, a 17 km pipeline was built, leaving its headquarters in São Paulo, passing through the citites of São Caetano do Sul and Santo André, until reaching a distribution tower in Capuava, city of Mauá, where the Capuava Petrochemical Complex is established. From there, a 3,6 km distribution network delivers water to each of the Polo's customers. The pipeline was designed to allow diversions, enabling the supply of reuse water to more possible customers along its route.
