BioBag World Australia
www.biobagworld.com.auBioBag World Australia offers compostable alternatives to plastic bags that break down anywhere oxygen and microorganisms are present, including on land and in water, with no microplastics or toxic residues. Australian manufacturing of BioBags commenced in Adelaide in March 2018. The Mater-Bi resin used to make the BioBag range is subject to ongoing product development in Italy by Novamont. Constant innovation means BioBags are improving all the time as environmentally-friendly plastic alternatives. Unlike regular plastic, BioBags can be consumed by microorganisms that live in our soils, oceans and waterways. Our product range includes bin liners from 8 to 240 litres, dog waste bags, produce bags and a range of compostable films suitable for other applications. Using a BioBag to collect organic waste has been proven to increase diversion of food waste from landfill to compost via kerbside green organics recycling bins. Recent research in Adelaide found buying fresh produce in compostable bags then used to recycle food waste: Reduces the amount of plastic generated and the amount of plastic that could enter the environment, Reduces greenhouse gas emissions by increasing the amount of food waste diverted from landfill, Grows the circular economy by increasing the volume of organics processed at local facilities, and Creates new jobs at local organics recycling facilities. BioBag World Australia is a joint venture between Peakfresh Products and BioBag International with support from Green Industries SA. BioBag has 6 factories and 20 market or distribution partners around the world, producing over 1 billion bags a year. Based in Norway, BioBag is also in Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, Estonia, Finland and USA, and there are partners representing BioBag International in many other countries.
