We are the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation - a registered charitable organization that raises funds for medical & diagnostic equipment, facility upgrades and staff development. The Foundation was originally established in 1982 as the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre Foundation to equip a new regional hospital that would replace the 93 year old Owen Sound General and Marine Hospital. Volunteers mounted a campaign across Grey and Bruce counties, raising over $16 million in cash and pledges for the project! In 1996, the Foundation established its Caring for Tomorrow Endowment, to provide for the long-term financial security of the hospital. The Foundation also supports education and training for staff directly involved in patient care through a number of initiatives. The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care provides very little funding to Ontario hospitals for equipment purchases. Hospitals rely on the generosity of their communities to purchase new and replacement medical equipment, and to support continuing education for our medical professionals.
