We are a comprehensive design school. The Hillier College of Architecture and Design began in 1973 as the New Jersey School of Architecture, and we remain the only accredited undergraduate architecture program in the state. Degree programs in Interior Design, Industrial Design and Digital Design extend a multi-disciplinary curriculum emphasizing collaborative studios and coursework. We are a technology-enabled design program. We were the first architecture school in the nation to introduce a digital platform for all studio work. Our faculty expertise extends from nanotechnology in our Material Dynamics Lab to regional applications in our Infrastructure Planning program, and includes robotics, parametric design, and interactive design. We are an urban school. Proximity to New York City provides access to unmatched cultural and intellectual resources for our students and a great talent pool of design faculty. Newark, our host city, is undergoing a significant revitalization, both downtown and in its neighborhoods. Our outreach efforts help inform and facilitate this transformation. We are an intellectual and creative community. Design draws on a broad array of disciplines and practices.
