The Talisman is the official lifestyle magazine of Western Kentucky University and was founded in 1924. In 2017 the Talisman topped producing yearbooks and became a campus lifestyle magazine that strives to tell the stories that are unique and interesting, for students, staff, and community members alike. The Talisman breaks through the mold of regular lifestyle magazines and strives to capture the unique essence of each semester through award-winning photography combined with equally impressive written stories and design. The Talisman staff publish web stories on a daily basis and promote them on our social media platforms. Our magazine is launched quarterly after our dedicated staffers create their vision for our magazine based on that semester's theme. Four magazines have been published so far and we continue to publish a magazine at the end of each semester. Our previous themes have included, Identity, Well Being, and Power. Our student-run publication is looked to as a model by many universities and is consistently given high praise and awards at the national level. Working for the Talisman has several advantages. Talisman staffers develop skills in a workplace environment that mirrors a professional publication.
