Airlock was created for my love of the history of human spaceflight. For 19 years I worked at the U. S. Space & Rocket Center (USSRC) in Huntsville, Alabama. The USSRC is the official visitor’s center for NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. For the last nine years of my time there, I was lucky enough to serve as the museum’s curator. While there, I took care of one of the world’s largest collections of space hardware and documentation. I also oversaw the creation of exhibits, wrote content, planned and executed restorations of rockets and aircraft. During that entire time, I also worked a side-hustle as a freelance graphic designer for other folks creating space and space history related content. In January of 2020, I left the USSRC to support my wife in her career and am taking the opportunity to do some digital art to feed the creative part of my personality. Of course, I can’t help but make my art space related! Most of what I make is directly connected to space history but is influenced by nearly anything, As I’m also a motorcycle enthusiast, sci-fi nerd, and tattooed person, these things tend to creep into my work.
