Sage Initiative
www.sageinitiative.caSage Initiative is the 1st and only Indigenous Womxn’s impact investing collective. Indigenous womxn are being recruited from every province and territory who will then be trained to invest $5,000-$50,000 of their own money in Indigenous social enterprises. Our decolonized curriculum and learning environment is provided to build financial and investment literacy for participants, while being guided by the need to heal from trauma associated with money. A national network of Indigenous womxn impact investors will grow generative wealth over time; will help to re-build an Indigenous economy that has a balanced approach to social, environmental, and economic benefit; and it will provide numerous positive role models for younger Indigenous womxn looking for new and sustainable pathways to prosperity. Indigenous womxn, specifically, have a systemically-conditioned rift relationship with money and wealth. This initiative will uproot that shame through a strength-based healing approach using a trauma-informed lens that honours the lived-experiences of participating Indigenous womxn. This Indigenous approach is interwoven with training around more technical investing skills and practices such as deal sourcing, conducting due diligence, and understanding risk and return options when making investment decisions
