St. Croix Landmarks Society is a nonprofit cultural organization whose mission is to advance the understanding and appreciation of the unique historical and cultural legacy of St. Croix through preservation, research and education. We operate Estate Whim Museum in the Frederiksted area of the island. St. Croix Landmarks Society Research Library & Archives, our library offering unique resources for Caribbean history researchers and genealogists, stands at the same location. Throughout the year, we organize various education-focused cultural programs intended to inspire discussions about culture, history and current life on the island. Our education programs and initiatives are intended to preserve, reflect on, and prompt discussions about the people of St. Croix, places that are significant to us, and customs that belong to us. At Landmarks, we believe that one of the most critical keys to knowing where we’ll go is understanding where we’ve come from; and we aim to instill a sense of self, place, and responsibility in both young and old generations of St. Croix's residents, friends, and visitors alike.
