CityDeskStudio is a collaborative, idea-driven architectural practice. Founded in 2004, we provide full architectural design services for residential and small commercial projects, with a modern contextual focus. We believe that the built world can elevate our everyday experiences. From the organization of rooms, to the position of a single object within them, from the interactions of light and shadow, to the materials used to create the spaces in which they play; architecture supports the ways we live and the things we love. This includes the rituals we call our own, as well as those we share with family, friends, and the natural world. By lending focus to them, architecture can heighten both the ordinary and sacred moments of our lives. At CityDeskStudio, we further believe that we are most engaged with life when we are active, asking questions, challenging preconceptions, and pursuing inspiration with which to reimagine the world. We seek to create buildings that emerge from this engagement. We believe that architecture can express, and encourage, such vital activity even as it upholds the comforting, relative constants of our lives. The name CityDeskStudio expresses our interest in the scales and connections that allow architecture to transcend the simple brick and mortar, or ink and paper. The boundless City as a system of tenuous spatial relationships that aren’t always apparent, and the Desk as a product of craftsmanship, a singular vision achieved through intense focus. Between the City and the Desk, the Studio exists for work that is anchored in respect for people and the world. In our studio, we strive to engage seamlessly with all of these elements, in order to make every project the best that it can be. Great architecture emerges from the hands and hearts of everyone involved, including the client, the builders, and the architects. We are grateful to take part.
