Consolitape Software is a virtualization system that allows multiple legacy backup cartridges to be stacked onto a single LTO cartridge, with the single LTO cartridge appearing as multiple virtualized LTO volumes, i.e. you can mount one tape, and your backup software can see 60 LTO1 volumes. This unique solution provides the world's first universal upgrade path for LTO media, allowing LTO1 volumes to be mounted in an LTO7 drive. Unlike the process of recalling and recycling legacy LTO cartridges, the ConsoliTape solution does not require volumes to be read and rewritten through the production backup system and captures a full physical copy of the old volume.
